What to Expect

The American Advertising Federation – Houston Student Advertising Competition & Conference is a nationally recognized two-day, advertising competition with exciting sessions to help students launch a career in the industry.

On day one, college students from District 10 (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas) work on teams to create a comprehensive marketing, advertising and public relations campaign for the sponsoring brand. This is a REAL WORLD, REAL WORK competition.

On day two, attendees network with and learn from professionals in prominent agencies and brands and see the winning presentation.

Real Work, Real Client. You will be broken into teams to work on a client brief for 7 hours – developing marketing strategy, media plans, and creative (and more!) to then present before a panel of judges to win the competition.

Portfolio & Resume Review

Take advantage of 1:1 meetings to network with and get feedback from professionals in your desired career path. Be sure to bring your resume and/or portfolio for feedback.

How I Got My Start Panel

Listen to young professionals about how they landed their first gig and how they charted their career path. Lots of good actionable tips on launching your career!

Career Fair

Network with companies looking for talent to fill both internships as well as entry level positions on their teams. Bring lots of resumes and cards to share. Prepare to follow up on opportunities!
